Baked Yoghurt Dessert
Its so scorching hot here in Delhi that I don’t get the drive to eat food. All I want to do is have a chilled drink or dessert and keep a bottle of cold water on my head Well the latter, I am not doing So satiating myself with chilled stuff every day. This dessert is from Neeta Mehta’s book “101 Vegetarian recipes”. I had been eyeing this for long and decided to give it a shot. This one is super easy to make and soft and creamy in texture. It tastes like one of the mava sweets, I am not able to recollect the name. We had this as is and liked it, however I feel it would have been super to have it with add ons.
125 gm Yoghurt (I didn’t hang it. Just used the market brought one. I think it was about 1/2 cup)
100 gm cream (I used home made one)
100 gm sweet condensed milk
pistachio for garnishing
- Preheat the oven at 130C.
- Beat together yoghurt, cream and condensed milk till smooth. Pour in a mould atleast 7″ in diameter or pour in small oven-proof serving bowls. Bake for 8 minutes till set.
- Take it out of oven and let it cool. Keep it in refrigerator for at least 5-6 hours. Take it carefully out of the mould. If using bowls serve directly.
- Serve chilled along with mango pieces or caramelized fruits.
Variation for next time: I would like to add saffron or cardamom powder next time. If you try it let me know how it was for you
Note: Since the recipe did not specify, I did not hang the curd. If you are going to take it out of mould and serve in a different plate, take it out of refrigerator just before serving as it leaves a little bit of water while emptying. If you are serving directly in the bowls the dessert was baked in, then this issue won’t come I guess.
